The Kalpana Fellowship Scheme is a first-of-its-kind Fellowship in the space sector of India introduced by Skyroot Aerospace, aimed at empowering and supporting women pursuing careers in aerospace engineering. Inspired by the legacy of the woman astronaut Kalpana Chawla, the program offers fellowship, training opportunities, real-world experience, expert mentorship, and exposure to cutting-edge technology at Skyroot Aerospace.

The scheme provides stipend to women pursuing degrees/ freshers in relevant engineering disciplines and is applicable to following categories:

• BTech Final Year Students
• MTech Final Year Students
• Fresher BTech
• Fresher MTech
• PhD Completed

• B. Tech final Year Students – 30,000 INR Per month
• M. Tech final Year Students – 35,000 INR per month
• B. Tech freshers who have completed studies – 50,000 INR per month
• M. Tech freshers who have completed studies – 55,000 INR per month
• PhD completed – 80,000 INR per month

The Kalpana Fellowship Scheme, inspired by the legendary astronaut Kalpana Chawla, aims to encourage, inspire, and empower the next generation of women engineers to reach for the stars by providing exclusive opportunities in space-tech. The candidate selection process will undergo thorough evaluation across three stages to identify and assess the mental and academic competencies essential for a Kalpana Fellow to realize the envisioned goals of the fellowship.

• Stage 3 – Technical Interview

The fellowship requires that you complete the full term mutually agreed when you commence the fellowship. If by any circumstances you have to leave before completing the agreed term, you will become ineligible for the fellowship certificate.

The Fellowship entails full-time work at Skyroot’s Hyderabad office.

We as an organisation highly support learning; we have very seasoned space scientists and engineers including retired ISRO scientists, and senior team members who have deep expertise in various fields who will be mentoring Kalpana Fellows.

Depending on personal exigencies, fellowship maybe terminated upon mutual consent. However, for part period, no fellowship certificate will be issued.

If selected, you will be working at any of the facilities of Skyroot in Hyderabad, based on how we map your skills and knowledge to the various projects and activities that are happening at our locations. Skyroot reserves the right to decide which facility a candidate will be mapped to.

There is a chance to get absorbed into full-time employment. However, it depends on the openings available, suitability for future requirements and performance of the candidate.
